We were awarded 3rd place in the "Project of the Year 2026" category by the renowned materialfluss magazine. The award-winning solution is revolutionizing intralogistics by integrating the world's first fully automated small load carrier picking robot into an AutoStore® system at Siemens AG in Rastatt.

The pioneering project combines state-of-the-art robotics with proven AutoStore® technology. At the heart of the system is an AutoStore® single-double grid with 23,000 containers, eight Red Line robots and six conveyor ports with a retrieval capacity of up to 100 processes per hour.

The special innovation lies in the integrated robot cell with KUKA robots and MechMind 3D vision technology, which recognizes four different types of small load carriers and stores them precisely in AutoStore® containers. With 55 storage operations per hour, the system works fully automatically in 24/7 operation and replaces the over 30-year-old automatic small parts warehouse at Siemens.

At the award ceremony, Anna Sophia Kehmstedt and Sebastian Behrens from the Robotics team accepted the award. The system was successfully handed over in November 2025 and has been processing components for Siemens' valve production ever since.

Congratulations to our entire project team for this well-deserved recognition! We would like to thank all those involved, partners and everyone who voted for our project!
