Three times´s a charm – individual AutoStore® solutions for healthcare, retail and postal services

At the end of the year, the team led by HÖRMANN Intralogistics Business Unit Manager AutoStore Robert Heinz was able to put the icing on the cake of successful business year 2023, which already marked the 50th AutoStore installation and delivery of the 1000th AutoStore® robot. The Munich-based intralogistics experts will implement three new systems with with the reliability, quality and timeliness customers value.

In the service of health - AutoStore® solution for bandages and orthoses at rahm

With over 1000 employees at 50 locations, the rahm Center for Health & Mobility specializes in helping people to make their everyday lives and future worth living. Under the motto "We create life values", rahm offers individual aids for more freedom of movement and quality of life.

At the Camp Spich headquarters in Troisdorf, HÖRMANN Intralogistics has received an order to implement a tailor-made AutoStore® system for the storage and picking of bandages and orthoses. Three carousel ports enable 2400 retrievals and picking operations per day to provide customers with their orthopaedic aids quickly and reliably. Two conveyor ports can handle 480 deposits per day. To this end, 10 autonomous robots move incessantly on the rail system above the stacks of containers for nine hours a day. They rearrange the bins and bring the required items, which are initially stored in the initial 4750 bins (total capacity 9600 containers), to one of the picking stations on an order-by-order basis. The new AutoStore® system will be built in an existing building and is scheduled to go live in June 2024.

Fast order processing with AutoStore® and connecting conveyor technology at TAWAGRO

In addition to tobacco products, the product range of Tabakwaren-Großkauf, Hannover eG, or TAWAGRO for short, also includes e-cigarettes, e-shishas, smoking supplies, e-loading, beverages, confectionery, kiosk supplements, coffee system solutions and coffee & accessories.

For the storage and picking of small items, HÖRMANN Intralogistics implements a tailor-made AutoStore® system at its company location in Hanover. Here, in a total of 8450 containers, the large variety of articles is stored and managed. A total of six carousel ports, which will be built opposite each other in a picking tunnel, will be connected to the packaging stations and the outgoing goods area via container conveyor technology. A conveyor loop returns the empty internal transport containers to the AutoStore® system. Transfer cells, which are located on a mezzanine, can be used to store directly from the delivered pallets into the AutoStore® at the goods incoming. For storage, resorting and order-related item provision at the ports, 22 autonomous robots move on the rail system above the container stacks. The new AutoStore® facility will be built in Q2 2024 in an existing warehouse.

You´ve got mail - AutoStore® system with HiLIS AS for Croatian Post

At its logistics site in Velika Gorica, about 18 kilometres south-east of Zagreb, Croatian Post HP-Hrvatska posta d.d. is planning a new material flow concept for the storage and picking of small items. HÖRMANN Intralogistics impressed with its overall concept for fast and reliable logistics processes and was awarded the contract to build a tailor-made AutoStore® solution including the HiLIS warehouse management system.

The new AutoStore® small parts warehouse will comprise 6000 bins on 16 levels. The quota of 800 outgoing goods per hour feeds a total of nine carousel ports. A conveyor port is available for storage (90 per hour). 16 diligent, autonomous robots supply the picking ports. To support staff, each carousel port has been equipped with a mobile rack on which eight slots are available for the shipping containers. In addition, pick-by-light and put-by-light systems make it easier for employees to pick items.

Maximum performance and availability with the WMS HiLIS AS

The AutoStore® control system autonomously executes the transport orders for all robots, but does not know the contents of the containers. For this purpose, HÖRMANN Intralogistics has developed the higher-level warehouse management system HiLIS AS. This is tailored to AutoStore's® requirements and is connected directly to the customer's HOST systems.

The new AutoStore® system at Croatian Post will be built in an existing hall and is scheduled to go live in the fourth quarter of 2024.
